Happy Mother's Day
Bonnie Rolison has been enthusiastically securing a non-stop river of donations for Construction Junction ever since our doors first opened back in November, 1999. Her dedication and contributions to the success of our organization are truly immeasurable.
Now it is time for all of us to reverse the river and send our support and contributions back to Bonnie who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Family, friends and co-workers will be walking in support of Bonnie on Sunday, May 9th in the Komen Pittsburgh Race for the Cure. Additionally, on that day, Construction Junction will donate 20% of all sales to the Susan G, Komen Foundation. It is not unusual for our store to break $4,000 in sales on a busy Sunday so we're hoping to be able to make a donation of $1,000 or more.
Also on that day, you can save 20% off any pair of jeans at the Pittsburgh Jeans Company with proof of your participation in the Race. In addition to you saving money, the Pittsburgh Jeans Company will donate 20% of their sales on May 9th to the Foundation.
And being the person that she is... Bonnie has set up a fundraising effort of her own at the Susan G. Komen Foundation called Bonnie's Brigade. You can support Bonnie too. Go to the Bonnie's Brigade webpage and make a donation in support of Bonnie and/or register for the Race as a member of Bonnie's team.
To date Bonnie has raised over $2,800.
The CJ Buzz
This week we have some odd but particularly good buzz. Our very own 'Chef Bill' as we like to call him, has embarked on a monumental task. He's cleaning out his office. Now this may not seem like such a big deal but let us explain.
Bill is the person at Construction Junction who knows everything about everything old and notable. And lucky for him he gets to sift through old stuff and rare finds when he's out on the job with his fellow deconstruction crew members.
There's also one more thing about Bill... he's a collector and we don't mean just a collector... we mean a COLLECTOR... like houses full of stuff.
Naturally his office has gotten quite "full" over the years and it recently reached a tipping point. It was completely full, all horizontal surfaces piled so high that they could no longer accept additional stuff.
So what's a collector to do when they have no more room to collect? Clean and purge to make room for new stuff. After all it's not really about the stuff but rather the act of collecting that the real fun part.
So what does this mean for you? Well, there's a constant flow of really cool stuff coming out of Bill's office and out onto the sales floor. Little treasures are being scattered about the store according to their appropriate departments. Have fun hunting.

Palate Partners will provide six wine tasting offerings to guests while sailing. As the Explorer sails, a portion of guests' river journey will include narration by Davitt Woodwell, Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
Tickets are $75.00. $40 of each ticket is a tax deductible donation to the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. For a ticket form, click here. You may also purchase tickets online by clicking here.
