Love your watershed

Construction Junction has recently completed a redesign of its entire facility that will include an aggressive storm water management strategy.  Our building site sheds 4 million  gallons of storm water annually and we are committing to a plan that will focus on reducing runoff through an increase in green space and reuse of storm water for facility uses (8% of the total).

The significant quantity of water that we cannot reuse will have nearly 100% of the solid pollutants removed,  held on site and slowly released into the storm water system when the threat of combined sewer overflow has been minimized.

This is significant as Construction Junction sits at the top of the nine mile run watershed!  As you can, see we love our watershed and we hope you do too.  If you'd like to love your watershed even more attend 'Love Your Watershed Day'.  Click on the graphic below for detail and more information.

June 10, 2010

Presented by the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) Environmental Law Section to benefit the ACBA Environmental Law Section Scholarship Fund.

The ACBA Environmental Law Section is proud to present its Inaugural Think Green Event fundraiser aboard the RiverQuest Explorer. This event will generate support for the ACBF Environmental Law Section Scholarship Fund established this year in the Allegheny County Bar Foundation by the Section. The Scholarship Fund will provide two annual scholarships to deserving students at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and Duquesne University School of Law who have demonstrated an interest in and a commitment to the practice of environmental law.

Guests will embark on a cruise of Pittsburgh's three rivers on the RiverQuest Explorer, one of the world's first "green" vessels. Palate Partners will provide six wine tasting offerings to guests while sailing. As the Explorer sails, a portion of guests' river journey will include narration by Davitt Woodwell, Vice President of the Pennsylvania Environmental Council.

Tickets are $75.00. $40 of each ticket is a tax deductible donation to the Allegheny County Bar Foundation. For a ticket form, click here. You may also purchase tickets online by clicking here. The Explorer is docked on the Ohio River adjacent to the submarine at the Carnegie Science Center. For directions, please click here.

CJ Q&A

Construction Junction is awesome! I'm new to Pittsburgh and I'll miss Michigan, New York, Colorado, etc but the places I keep finding here in Pittsburgh always amaze me! I can't wait to drop in sometime soon to find stuff for my house renovation project!  -- Michelle
