Volunteer for the environment
I don't know about you, but I can barely stand to turn on the TV as of late. The latest news will no doubt include images of the endless gushing of oil into the Gulf and those images pain me to no end. They are a visceral reminder of birds covered in oil, sea turtles dying, the inevitable bioaccumulation of toxics up the food chain, environmental damage to sensitive marshlands, and of course the devasting effect this disaster is having and will continue to have on all the people who live in the area.
It's overwhelming and so many of us really wish we could do something but likely feel helpless. It's not realistic for the majority of us to travel down to the Gulf, but we can help ourselves and help our shared environment by doing what we can locally. Often doing something, anything... helps us deal with disasters such as what we're all facing with the BP oil spill.
One option for local involvement is PRC's upcoming Hard to Recycle Collection Event on Saturday June 26th. The event is all about ensuring toxic chemicals don't get released into our environment and are instead, properly managed. Volunteers are needed between the hours of 9am and 2pm to help set up and cleanup, unload cars, take money, and direct traffic.
Hard to Recycle events serve the public by allowing for recycling of common items in an easy way. The event is in the parking lot at the Mall at Robinson and runs from 10am until 2pm. Please note... this event is NOT at CJ. Tires, e-waste, televisions, and other items will be collected and all materials will be recycled or refurbished. Volunteers will be provided with breakfast, lunch and refreshments courtesy of PRC and the Mall at Robinson. If interested in volunteering call Sarah Alessio Shea at 412.488.7490 ext. 236 or email her at saraha at ccicenter dot org!

CJ Q&A
Do you have any pictures of the stained glass windows that you currently have in stock? I'm looking for something large... like 3x5... especially with an arch at the top and could be from a church. -- Lola
Lola -- We always include pictures of whatever stained glass windows we get, in our weekly e-Blast. -- Cozmo
