Thanks to You!
For a number of weeks during the months of October and November, Construction Junction conducted a Community Donation drive to support several local nonprofits who, in many ways, share our commitment to reuse. The nonprofits included:
- Rainbow Kitchen - Coats, hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens.
- Animal Rescue League - Dog/puppy/cat/kitten food, toys, paper towels, clean blankets, litter, dog/cat treats, dog sweaters, soap, and dog crates.
- Global Links - Crutches, folding/collapsible walkers, wheelchairs and canes.
Free Ride - Bicycles and parts (accepted year round at CJ).
- Creative Reuse Pittsburgh - Art/craft supplies, fabric/notions, CDs/jewel cases, corks, buttons, office supplies, stationary, trophies, old photos/slides, and clean baby food jars with lids (accepted year round at CJ).
CJ placed donations bins near the entrance to the store and they filled up quickly. We feel really lucky to be able to work with our customers in this way and greatly appreciate your overwhelming participation to help support of these great nonprofits.
Soon after the donation drives were over, we received letters from a number of the organizations thanking us for our efforts and we thought it would be a good idea to share those letters with you. You can click on the images to the right to see a larger view.
Once again, thank you for your participation and enthusiasm. We look forward to the additional Community Donation drives certain to be in our collective future.

CJ Q&A
Can I bring my old audio cassettes in for recycling? And what about plastic cassette, DVD or CD cases?
Yes, you can, as we are one of the drop-off centers for eLoop. Fees apply to some items. Audio cassettes cost $3.00/lb, and around 6 cassettes weigh a pound. You can leave them in their plastic cases. Alternatively, on our parking lot, the City of Pittsburgh has drop-off recycling dumpsters, including plastics marked with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, so you could put the plastic cases in there. Thanks for caring for our planet.
