Cozmo at work

Normally we address our Frequently Asked Questions in the CJ Q&A section of our e-Blast but...  we couldn't resist bringing this question "up to the top" and featuring our favorite staff member.  So here's the question:

I love coming to CJ even when I don't need anything, but I've never seen Cozmo.  Where is his office?  -- Marie

Cozmo's a busy canine, always trotting around looking for the CJ scoop so he can report back to you in this weekly format.  Because he's so busy... sometimes he's hard to spot.  So we thought we'd share 'a day in the work life of Cozmo' with photos.  From top left to lower right he's: waiting for his ride to work, checking his email, taking a break after unloading the truck, moving inventory around, keeping his eyes out for incoming donations and having dinner with his girlfirend, Ms. Bowie Francis Rose, after a hard day at work.

The CJ Buzz

In celebration of Earth Day, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is holding their first ever Party for the Planet & Green Marketplace on Saturday, April 18, 2009 and Construction Junction will be participating.  We think this'll be a great event featuring local companies that offer eco-friendly clothing, jewelry, home & garden products, art, make-up and many other products.  You'll also be able to learn how to save money on your utility bills, sample all-natural foods, and find out how your entire family can reduce its carbon footprint.

Kids can participate in the Recycling Olympics, make a reusable craft, touch animal bio-facts, and meet the Litter Bug mascot.  All activities are from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., and are free with general admission.

Sponsored by PPG Industries, the Pennsylvania Resources Council, and Disneynature’s EARTH, in theaters April 22nd.

CJ Q&A

Hi, I have an old Whirlpool refrigerator sitting in my basement.  It works and I don't want to just set it out on the curb for trash.  Do you accept appliances?  I see you have them on your home and shop pages, but didn't see them on the 'what we accept' list. -- Jimmy

Jimmy -- We get this question often and obviously need to make some improvements to our website.  Look below for a repeat of the answer we've provided in the past.  You may also be interested to know that the Allegheny County Health Department and Pennsylvania Resources Council are currently partnering to provide free curbside pickup and disposal of freon containing appliances.  This limited time offer includes refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers and water coolers.  To schedule your free pick up... call the Appliance Warehouse at 1 (888) GO-Freon (1-888-463-7366).  -- Cozmo

Repeat of previous answer:  If your appliance works then we'll accept it and resell it if we can.  If your appliance doesn't work or we can't resell it and contains freon then we'll accept it, but will charge you a $10 (plus tax) freon disposal fee.  If your appliance doesn't work, doesn't contain freon and is primarily made of metal, then we'll let you throw it in our scrap metal dumpster so the metals will get recycled.  Hope this answers your question and doesn't make your head spin too badly.
