Recycling news

We'd like to share two pieces of recycling news with you.

Environmental Protection Acting Secretary John Hanger will present the keynote luncheon speech at the inaugural PA ReMaDe Expo 2009 to be held later this month in Harrisburg. The Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC), a leader in developing and expanding recycling markets in Pennsylvania, will host the inaugural PA ReMaDe Expo 2009 April 27-28 at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg.  Registrations are being accepted through kickoff of the event.

PA ReMaDe 2009 (PennsylvaniA REcycling MArkets DEvelopment) is a business and industry exposition, creating the only one stop marketplace for recycled commodities and recycled content products.  Featured exhibitors include recycled content product manufacturers, recycled material processors, consultants, and potential investors from across Pennsylvania.  Recycling and recycling markets represents more than a $20 billion industry in Pennsylvania.

For schedule and registration details, contact the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center at 717-948-6660, e-mail info@parmc.org or visit www.parmc.org.

Secondly...  Hampton Township School District is holding the second annual Recycle Rama on Saturday, April 25th, from 10 am to 1 pm in the Hampton High School parking lot  and cafeteria.  Find out more in the News & Events section of our website.

The CJ Buzz

Check out our Executive Director's interview with Matthew Lesco.

Mr. Lesko is popularly known as "that question mark guy" for the Riddler-like suit that he wears in his television commercials, infomercials, interviews, and in his everyday life.

It was a lot of fun to have Matthew in the store for a few hours.  We're considering new Construction Junction uniforms with green recycling arrows all over them!

CJ Q&A

Do you take yard debris?  -- Shannon

Shannon -- No, but we have a great recommendation of a place very close by that does.  It's called Agrecycle and located right on Braddock Ave just a couple of blocks away.  There number is 412-242-SOIL.  You may want to also consider backyard composting if you're not composting already.  Pennsylvania Resources Council offers great classes on how to compost.  You'll receive a composting bin as part of the class.  Construction Junction also sells composting bins.  And don't forget... we've got tons of fun stuff to fill up your yard once you get it all cleaned out!!  -- Cozmo
