CJ wins Audubon Trustee Award
The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania (ASWP) has honored Construction Junction with its annual Trustee Award. The award, given by ASWP since 1972, is in recognition of outstanding effort to further the cause of conservation in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Two CJ staff members received the award at ASWP's annual dinner held at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve on June 9, 2009.
All of the staff at Construction Junction greatly appreciate the recognition and we're excited to be included among the ranks of such great conservation organizations including: Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Conservation Consultants Inc., Allegheny Land Trust, Nine Mile Run Watershed Association, and Pennsylvania Environmental Council.
Founded in 1916, Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania has been a leader in environmental conservation in western Pennsylvania. While "Audubon" means "birds" to many people, Audubon members realized early on that their delight in birds would be for naught if habitats were not protected as well as the birds themselves. Thus, Audubon has become involved in all levels of conservation from individual bird species to entire ecosystems.
Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania was for many years simply a gathering of like-minded souls. But in 1942, they became land owners as ornithologist W.E. Clyde Todd sought a caretaker for his beloved family property, now known as Todd Nature Reserve in southeastern Butler County. In the late 1970's ASWP evolved further as they agreed to take on Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve in northeastern Allegheny County to provide environmental education to the region. ASWP is now the premier environmental education organization in western Pennsylvania--and we still love birds.

TVs and More Recycling Event
June 20, 2009Brought to you by PennFuture's Black and Gold City Goes Green Campaign in conjunction with eLoop llc, Global Links and the Pennsylvania Resources Council.
As television broadcasting across the U.S. converts to digital transmission, many individuals will be replacing their analog televisions with new digital models. eLoop will recycle televisions, computers, monitors, cell phones, and other digital equipment in an environmentally safe way without shipping material overseas. eLoop will provide an onsite data destruction system to destroy hard drives for those individuals that are concerned about recycling a PC or a laptop. Improper disposal of televisions and other electronic devices will lead to environmental poisons leaking into our soil. eLoop operates in a completely above-board fashion, and prides itself on environmental stewardship with their recycling processes.
