Zero waste success

The 3rd annual Steel City Big Pour was a big success.  Thank you to everyone who attended.  We appreciate your patronage and support and we hope to see you again at next year's event.

We also appreciate all of the positive comments we've been receiving.  Many of the comments have been related to our efforts to make the Big Pour a zero waste event and we're happy to report that our first run at this effort yielded great results.

We diverted 8 cubic yards of waste (food waste, compostable cups, plates, forks, and spoons) to be composted by AgRecycle.  Our food partners cooperated beautifully and we will continue to make this an integral part of future Big Pours.

Our thanks to Whole Foods Market for sponsoring this effort and donating rain barrels.  We'd also like to thank AgRecycle and our zero waste crew headed up by Justin Parisi.

For more information on how to make your next event a zero waste event... contact Justin Parisi at 412-297-3837 or go to www.zerowastepgh.org

The CJ Buzz

We have two pieces of news to share.  First, we wanted to let you know that our second cash register is back up and running.  Saturdays and Sundays are really busy at Construction Junction and our second cash register helps to keep the check out line at bay.

Secondly, we've recently received a fun donation... twenty-four matching church pews.  We're going to make them a little shorter and expect them to start trickling out to the sales floor by the late next week (September 26th).

CJ Q&A

My wife and I are looking for a used fireplace mantel.  We are replacing a white flush mount mantel with a direct vent gas fireplace with a ventless gas log fireplace and would like to put in an antique victorian wood mantel.  -- Dale

Dale --  CJ usually has at least one or two antique wood mantels on hand.  Our stock is always changing and it's best to stop in as often as you can until you find one you like.  For now though... check out the photo of the two mantels we currently have on hand in the recent arrivals section of this e-Blast.  Hope this helps.  -- Cozmo
