CJ celebrates 10 years

"In a sprawling East End warehouse, Pittsburgh's collective vision of the neighborhood yard sale takes place daily.  Contractors, do-it-yourselfers, bargain hunters and just plain curious engage in the high (and low) art of recycling everything from stained glass to toilet seats.  A report on a business doing good and holding its own."  -- Jeffery Fraser

CJ was recently featured in the Summer 2009 edition of h... The Magazine of The Heinz Endowments.  We think the article's great and you can read it by clicking on the image to the right.

CJ is celebrating our ten year anniversary (11/12/09) so the article is very fitting as it highlights our ten year history, current challenges and plans for the future... the biggest of which is a multi-million dollar renovation of our 100 year old warehouse to LEED gold standards.  To this end, Heinz awarded CJ a grant to cover the costs of a planning and sustainability study for this project.

Besides all of the good info... the article also has many great photos of happy and smiling customers... one of which may be of you!!

The CJ Buzz

Customers tell us that the store has been looking more clean and tidy lately and it's true... we've been making an effort in this regard.

For example, check out our new entrance kiosk where you can borrow a tape measure, recycle printing cartridges (located to the left of the kiosk), get a City Paper and peruse the current discounts available on older merchandise (aka the Periodic Table of Sales).
