A message from Cozmo

Hello ReUsers!

First off... please remember that Construction Junction is closed on Monday, January 18th, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Last week you heard from our Operations Director and the week before from our Executive Director.  This week you're hearing from Cozmo... our Canine Information Officer (CIO).

2009 was certainly a good year.  So was 2008.  We know that it's no coincidence that the growth we've experienced over the last two years coincides with our recent technology investments including our re-launched website and this weekly e-Blast.  It's not the whole story of course but technology is a powerful tool and we have plans to leverage it even more in the future.

Many of the enhancements will improve our internal operations but there are others we think you'll be especially excited about.  Here's a few we think are particularly noteworthy:

  • Post our inventory online and allow it to be searchable
  • Allow folks to create CJ user accounts and post pictures of their cool reuse projects plus contribute to our recycling page which we which intend to turn into a WIKI
  • Provide the opportunity for users to create wish lists and receive instant notifications when those types of items arrive at the store, and
  • Allow donors to view their donation history online and print copies of donation receipts for tax purposes.

It's all very exciting and we're working diligently to bring these goals to fruition.  We appreciate and value your online engagement with us and hope you find these ideas as exciting as we do.  Of course... we're always open to suggestions.  Please feel free to share any thoughts with us at info @ constructionjunction dot org.  Or email me directly at cozmo @ constructionjunction dot org.

Here's to a great and "techie" 2010!

The CJ Buzz

What does the ocean and Construction Junction have in common?  Both CJ and the ocean experience tides.  The ocean's tides bring water to the shoreline and our tides bring donations to our doorstep.  And you never know what the tide will bring in.  We get some wild and crazy stuff!

This week the tide is bringing in a bookstore.  Yup... you read that correctly, a bookstore.  Like a Barnes & Noble bookstore to be precise.  Below are some photos of the kinds of things we might get.  Look to next week's recent arrival section to see what the tide actually brings in.

Free firewood

The staff at CJ has started stock piling pallets that we can't make use of so that someone else can make use of them as firewood.  Please help yourself to as many of these pallets as you'd like.  Please click on the "read more" for a photo... and here's to the beauty of use and reuse.

CJ Q&A

I just bought the green and white large built in (labeled Large Built In #1) on the last e-blast.  I just about have it refinished and installed.  I was going to send over a picture because it turned out so well.  Is there an email address I can send a photo to?  Are you interested in displaying photos of successful installations?  My picture actually includes a gate I bought, refinished and hung as art adjacent to my built in.  Let me know... thanks for the great services CJ provides.  -- Tim

Tim -- We're also looking for great customer reuse stories and we'd love a photo of your finished project.  If it's OK with you we'd feature your project in an one of our upcoming e-Blasts.  Just send the photo(s) to info @ constructionjunction dot org.  We appreciate it and thanks for your nice words about CJ.  -- Cozmo
