Why Drive to the Big Pour?

Here are a few reasons not to:

1) Because you could ride your bicycle -

This year the Steel City Big Pour will feature a FREE bike valet service.  Enjoy the event knowing your ride is in safe hands!

2) Because you could take Port Authority -

Port Authority operates several bus lines from many parts of town right to Construction Junction.  See the location map to the right, and click on the link below from the part of town you'll be coming from for a printable timetable and map.

3) If you do either, we'll give you one free raffle ticket -

We'll hand you a raffle ticket at the bike valet.  Or if you take the bus, show us your transfer at the will call ticket counter to claim your raffle ticket.  Be sure to ask for a transfer on the bus (they cost an extra .50¢ but you can use it to get home).

Construction Junction wants to ensure that you enjoy the Big Pour safely and responsibly.  Please don't drink and drive.

If you must drive... please note:

PennDOT has announced that the inbound parkway east (I-376) will be completely closed the day of the Big Pour.  Don’t panic... there is an excellent alternative route that will work well for people coming from the North and the East.

  • Take the PA turnpike to exit 48 - Allegheny Valley. That is one exit west of the Pittsburgh\Monroeville exit and two exits east of the Cranberry exit where the turnpike connects with Interstate 79.
  • After the toll booth, follow signs for Route 28.  Travel 8/10ths of a mile and turn right onto Werner Camp Road, again following signs for Route 28.  After 4/10ths of a mile, bear right onto 28 South towards Pittsburgh.
  • Travel 28 South for about 5.5 miles to the Highland Park Bridge.  Stay in the left lane and take the Highland Park Bridge - Exit 6, Route 8 South.
  • Stay in the left lane on the bridge and follow signs for Washington Blvd/South 8.
  • After bridge exit ramp, stay in right lane and travel 4/10ths of a mile to the first traffic light and turn right, staying on Washington Blvd/South 8.
  • Travel about 2 miles on Washington Blvd.  Turn left onto Thomas Blvd.  Travel about six (6) city blocks and you will run into the CJ building at Lexington Ave.
  • Turn right onto Lexington Ave and then a quick left onto Meade Street for access to a large parking lot which will be on the left after you turn onto Meade St.
